In 1919, following post-war shortages of mohair and wool, Steiff began to create bears from alternative materials. Steiff's Teddies for Tomorrow series pays homage to these bears that were inadvertently created from more eco-friendly and sustainable materials following these shortages. Bjorn is an adorable grizzly bear, made from the finest brown and honey coloured fabric made from bamboo and dressed in a cosy linen hooded jacket with a coconut shell button and a jersey linen scarf. He has a delicately hand embroidered nose and endearing dark eyes. Bjorn is filled with stuffing made from recycled PET plastic bottles. He has a gold plated "Button in Ear" and he proudly wears a distinguished polished brass motif chest tag. Building on the heritage of bears made like this over 100 years ago, Bjorn boasts the distinctive design qualities of a traditional Steiff bear, as well as a modern, ethical and eco-friendly attitude to production. He is limited to just 2,020 pieces worldwide and comes presented with his numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original cardboard outer sleeve.
